The professionals at Longshore Services know that quality upholstered furniture can be quite an investment.  Children, pets, and everyday use can leave your expensive furniture looking stained and dingy.  Furniture cleaning can be a challenge.  It is difficult to clean upholstery without the proper equipment, and you may do more harm than good by attempting to spot clean your own furniture.  Professional upholstery cleaning will both improve the appearance of your furniture, and protect your investment by extending your furniture's useful life.  Regular upholstery cleaning will also remove indoor air pollutants such as dust mites, and pollen and will contribute to healthier indoor air quality.

Our Upholstery Cleaning Process:  First, we spray a cleaning solution onto the fabric to loosen embedded soils.  We then rinse with a neutralizing solution, and extract the soil and solution from the fabric.  This method, steam cleaning, is very effective on most fabrics.  However, we also have the ability to dry clean certain fine fabrics such as chintz, moire, etc.  Our 25 years of experience and education enable us to properly identify your fabric and choose the appropriate furniture cleaning method.

Stain Protection: After cleaning upholstery, we recommend the application of a fiber protector.  If your furniture is properly protected, you will have a better chance of cleaning up spots and spills before they become permanent.

Longshore also utilizes low moisture encapsulation cleaning for certain low pile commercial carpet cleaning.

Oriental Rug Cleaning: Longshore's  cleaning professionals have been trained and certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration to clean high-end, handmade oriental rugs.  When working with an investment-grade oriental rug or other hand made wool rug, we often remove the rug from the home and clean it in our plant. The specialized equipment in our plant enables us to perform a deeper, more thorough rug cleaning.  Once cleaned, the rugs are hung up to dry.  Air movers and dehumidifiers speed the drying time.      

Stain Protection: After your carpet cleaning or rug cleaning, we recommend the application of a fiber protector.  Most new carpets are treated with stain protection, but this breaks down and wears off over time.  If your carpet is properly protected, you will have a better chance of cleaning up spills before they become permanent, and will remove more soil from your carpet with your vacuum cleaner.

Protect Your Carpeting Investment with Regular Cleaning: Even the most meticulously maintained carpets and rugs collect dust, pollen, dust mites, and other soil and germs beneath the surface that cannot be removed with normal vacuuming.  Every time you walk across your carpet, you are grinding these particles against your carpet fibers.  This contributes to premature wear and degradation of the fibers.  The major carpet manufacturers recommend professional carpet cleaning every 12 to 18 months in order to remove these particles and extend the life of your carpets.  Regular carpet cleaning also contributes to better air quality and a cleaner, healthier living environment.
